Technical Program

(30 sessions)

The technical program aims to improve knowledge and skills in the areas of general operative dentistry, fixed prosthodontics, and endodontics.

Most of the work will be conducted on bench-mounted manikins in the pre-clinical laboratory. Tasks will include:

  • Appropriate preparation of carious teeth (ranging from simple to extensive situations)
    - for restoration with resin composite and amalgam direct restorative materials

  • Principles of pulp protection and application of liners and bases

  • Understanding and application of bonding systems

  • Restoration of teeth with resin composite

  • Restoration of teeth with amalgam (including concepts of complex amalgam restorations
    - pins, slots, grooves, cusp capping, etc.).

  • Preparation of teeth for indirect restorations
    (PFM crowns, ceramic crowns, gold crowns, inlays/onlays, veneers, etc.)

  • Temporisation of teeth prepared for indirect restorations

  • Endodontic access cavities

  • Principles of endodontic instrumentation and obturation
